Veteran William Blair portfolio manager Karl Brewer is to retire from the Chicago-based asset manager at the end of 2017 after more than 20 years with the firm.
Citywire A-rated Brewer currently manages the William Blair SICAV US Small-Mid Cap Growth fund with Daniel E Crowe and Robert Lanphier. He also runs a number of funds aimed at US-based investors.
He will remain a manager on the funds until 30 June, when he will take on a portfolio adviser role until he retires.
As reported by our sister site, Citywire USA, Citywire + rated Robert Lanphier and Daniel Crowe will continue to manage the William Blair Small-Mid Cap Growth fund, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Brewer is a partner at William Blair and has been with the firm since 1996, when he started as an analyst before becoming a portfolio manager three years later.
Prior to joining William Blair, he spent six years in mergers and acquisitions at Lehman Brothers.
A spokesman for William Blair declined to comment.
