Santander Private Banking Chile has appointed Rubén Catalán as its new head of investments.
Catalán has been with the firm for two years, working as a strategist and international funds portfolio manager, and is taking over from Juan Luis Gaete, a spokeswoman confirmed to Citywire Americas.
The former head of investments has moved on to a role as commercial director of private banking within Santander Private Banking Chile, which falls under Banco Santander Chile.
Gaete's previous roles include head of fixed income at Santander Asset Management Chile. In total, he has been with the group for over 10 years, which includes a one year stint in 2010 at local pension fund AFP Cuprum.
Before joining Santander, Catalán worked for three years as a senior economic and fixed income investment analyst at Chilean bank BCI, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Other recent moves within Santander include the naming of Sergio Soto González as CEO of Santander Asset Management Chile in early April. He replaced María Paz Hidalgo who recently left the firm.
