Acadian Asset Management and private equity groups HarbourVest Partners and Landmark Partners have been added to the Chilean AFPs’ list of approved asset managers.

In its latest monthly report, Chile’s risk regulator, the Comisión Clasificadora de Riesgo (CCR), approved two of US boutique Acadian's Ucits funds as well as private equity vehicles run by fellow US firms HarbourVest and Landmark.

Acadian is a $103 billion Boston-based quantitative asset manager that already has a presence in Chile. HMC Capital is in charge of distributing its funds in the Andean region and Brasil, said the firm's head of institutional distribution Nicolás Fonseca.

'We have been distributing Acadian funds for close to two years now, with some success among Colombian pension funds and fund managers and family offices in Chile and Brazil,' he added.

HarbourVest specializes in global private equity while Landmark focuses on real estate and real assets. Both groups already had a presence in Chile through Larrainvial with who both have a distribution agreement.

They are the latest alternative asset managers to be added to the approved list since a wide-ranging reform to boost the AFPs' access to this asset class.

The CCR added six other funds to its approved list from Investec, Deutsche, Nomura and Nordea.
