Jefferies’ wealth management unit has hired Ricardo Krulig Gelman from HSBC Private Bank as its growth in Miami continues to take place.
Sources familiar with the situation confirmed Krulig will be joining the team led by Ernesto de la Fe, Jefferies Group's head of Latin America wealth management, in the coming weeks as a financial advisor.
Citywire Americas understands that while with HSBC, Krulig managed a Central American client book with a focus on Guatemala.
Both Jefferies and HSBC declined to comment on Krulig's move.
Earlier this week, HSBC announced to its employees in a memo that it would be transferring business originating in Central America and the Andean Region, excluding Chile, to UBS Wealth Management Americas.
The HSBC private bankers impacted will be offered roles at UBS, however, the deal does not guarantee they will join the firm.
Jefferies has seen a steady stream of large wirehouse and private banking teams joining since De la Fe arrived at the group in 2015. The last two teams it recruited came from Wells Fargo Advisors and combined, advised over $1.5 billion in assets.
