First State Investments has made several changes within its global resources team in the wake of the unit leader announcing plans to retire from fund management.
Warren has 15 years’ experience of working in the global resources investment at First State. As well as leading the team, he will take on the management of the Australia-domiciled CFS Global Resources fund.
Additionally, First State has appointed Tal Lomnitzer as deputy head of global resources. He will become the lead manager of the First State Global Resources fund, previously managed by Warner.
This builds on his experience as deputy portfolio manager to Warner since 2011. Warren will act as deputy manager on the fund.
Commenting on the appointment, a spokesperson for First State said: 'This is the culmination of a long-standing succession plan, carefully mapped out by Joanne and the team, to ensure the team is best placed to successfully manage their portfolios and continue to generate attractive returns for clients post the leadership succession.'
First State added that Warner had been an 'outstanding leader' for the unit during her tenure.
