Firm focus: Uruguay’s LATAM ConsultUS on their biggest challenge ahead

Firm focus: Uruguay’s LATAM ConsultUS on their biggest challenge ahead

Uruguayan investment consultancy group LATAM ConsultUS is looking to consolidate its services after undergoing rapid growth since its launch less than two years ago.

Founded in April 2016 by ex-Aiva investment specialist Veronica Rey, Maria Camacho and Santiago Haedo, the group has amassed more than 25 clients, consulting on around $4 billion at their launch to more than $20 billion today.

‘We have grown quite fast, so our main objective this year is focus on consolidating the service to the existing clients, enhance our web platform and introduce new services for the existing database,’ said Rey.

Its clients are from Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Perú, and Miami and are financial advisors, product selectors, research teams, wealth managers, family offices and brokers focused on offshore investments.

They assist them in identifying trends and selecting quality, best-in-class products and investment ideas and Rey says that their main challenge going forward is staying ahead of the trend.

‘We want to position the name of LATAM ConsultUs as a state of the art consultancy services for the advisor serving Latin American clients. This means for us a continuing education process to be a step ahead in innovation, identification of trends and selection and monitoring of the best in class investment ideas.’

Rey added that while they have experienced strong growth they are not looking to hire any more people in the future.

'Our five senior anaysts have vast experience in the field and we are very well equipped to assist our base of clients so far.'

This team includes former Aiva colleagues Pablo Machado and Deborah Amatti that joined in August 2016 and August 2017 respectively.

The firm has also expanded its business to events and is hosting its first client summit in Punta del Este, Uruguay, in April.

Its 'Kick Off' 2018 event will allow advisors to meet with portfolio managers and strategists from over 16 different asset managers and is taking place on April 11-13 in the Hotel Conrad.

Attendance is by invitation only with over 100 fund selectors from Uruguay, Chile, Perú, Paraguay, Argentina, Miami, Mexico, Colombia and Panamá invited to attend.

Among the asset managers and group sponsors confirmed for the event are: LarrainVial, M&G, Janus Henderson, Amundi Pioneer, Natixis, Aberdeen, Old Mutual Global Investors, Prodigy Nework, BNY Mellon, Pershing, AB, Legg Mason, Investec, Carmignac, NN Investment Partners, WisdomTree and Schroders.

Commenting on the event, Veronica Rey said: 'We are all very excited about Kick Off 2018. An opportunity to meet with colleagues and friends, align the interest of the independent advisors community in the Southern Cone and get the best ideas for clients’ portfolios from the most prestigious houses around the world.’
