James Jesse, formerly head of Morgan Stanley’s international wealth management unit, has re-emerged at a multi-family office reported to advise Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and other tech billionaires.
Citywire Americas understands Jesse has joined Iconiq Capital as chief administrative officer of the family office. The San Francisco- based firm confirmed Jesse's appointment but declined to comment further.
According to reports, the Silicon Valley firm was set up by former Goldman Sachs broker Divesh Makan in 2011 and also operates as a venture capital fund.
Makan’s most famous client and link to a number of other billionaires is Zuckerberg who he apparently met in 2004 when he was at Goldman Sachs, according to a Forbes article published in 2014. Makan was also a broker for Morgan Stanley for three years.
Jesse resigned from Morgan Stanley in January after nearly 16 years with the firm where he held a number of operational and business development roles. Prior to his departure Jesse guided the firm’s move to restructure its offshore business to bring it in line with its domestic counterpart.
He also outlined an aggressive growth plan to hire over 75 new international wealth advisors over 2016.
The wirehouse replaced him with products expert Colbert Narcisse, who has since shaken up the leadership structure at the unit.
