AXA Investment Managers has appointed former Merrill Lynch offshore fund selector Mike Acker to its Americas distribution team as national accounts manager, as it looks to expand and grow its US offshore business.
Acker left Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management after over 20 years with the firm in November 2016. At the time of his departure he led offshore fund selection as head of international product management for Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management.
He joins AXA from third-party marketing firm Atlantic Financial Partners, where he was an investment management consultant working with asset managers including AXA IM.
In the newly formed role, based out of Greenwich, Connecticut, Acker (pictured) will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with wirehouses, independent broker-dealers, RIAs, and regional private banks.
He will also manage the on-boarding and client reporting processes for all new distributors. In this role, he will report to Marcello Arona, head of AXA IM and CFO for AXA IM in the Americas.
Arona said: ‘We are pleased to welcome Mike to the AXA IM team as we continue to strengthen our dedicated distribution team serving our Americas offshore business. Mike brings extensive knowledge, especially in the offshore arena, having worked in investment management for nearly 25 years.
‘His deep experience in working with world-class asset managers will help us successfully expand AXA IM’s offerings in the growing offshore market.'
