Credit Suisse has transferred a senior Zurich-based advisor to the firm’s Chile private banking unit in a push to boost its business in the Southern Cone.

Richard Peter has joined Credit Suisse Agencia de Valores in Chile, the Santiago office from which the firm caters to high net worth individuals and families.

As a senior banker, Peter will continue to service ultra high net worth clients in the Southern Cone that he previously covered from Zurich.

'Today it is very important to be in proximity of [your] clients,' said Jerónimo Correa Braun, head of Credit Suisse Chile. 'This is the key to success for the future in the wealth management [unit] with more focus on... growth.'

With 20 years at Credit Suisse, Peter also served as head of the representative office in Uruguay from 2001 to 2003 and in Argentina from 2003 to 2009.

Credit Suisse Agencia de Valores offers trading, advisory, portfolio management and research services from its Chile office, according to its website.

The business is led by Correa, who took over in December from former country manager Jorge Díaz.
