Güerisoli, who works for Chilean investment firm Compass Group, had run the Luxembourg-domiciled fund on mandate since its launch in April 2010.
Responsibility for the fund now falls to Rafael Mendoza, who joined Compass Group from PineBridge Asset Management at the end of 2015 and is based in Santiago.
He was previously a research analyst and lead portfolio manager on LatAm strategies at PineBridge. These included the PineBridge Global Funds – Latin America Equity fund, as well a small- and mid-cap equity fund and a consumer-focused approach, both of which he worked on earlier in his career.
A spokesperson for Investec said Güerisoli would continue to run the Investec GSF Latin America Smaller Companies fund, which she has overseen since its launch in 2012, but the change on the broader mandate is designed to allow her to focus her attentions elsewhere.
‘This addition to the team will allow greater time for Carina Guerisoli to dedicate to her role as co-CIO equities moving from the LatAm Equity fund’s day to day management, while she continues to run the LatAm Smaller Companies strategy.
‘As co-CIO equities, Carina will help consolidate the sustainability of our long term out performance in equity strategies, as well as increasing recognition of our talent pool and unique infrastructure,’ the spokesperson said.
The Investec GSF Latin America Equity fund lost 49.5% in US dollar terms over the three years to the end of December 2015. This compares to a fall of 47.1% by its Citywire-assigned benchmark, the MSCI EM Latin America TR USD, over the same period.
